Have become steady with Dissolve into awareness-I / Dissolve in God Meditation method; Quite satisfied with it

Last updated on 30 July 2025
This post shares key points related to meditation practice part of my spiritual practice/journey since my last post update on this topic around 2 months back: Based on my spiritual practice, my understanding but not yet experience, of two possible ways of going beyond body consciousness

The above post has a section: Method 2: Dissolve into awareness-I / Dissolve into God. I have now become steady in this method for my meditation practice. It is jelling well with me. I am able to get into this meditation method and stay in it quite easily. So I am quite satisfied with this method. But I have not been able to get into a trance or go beyond body consciousness. At times, I do get into a sort-of deeper zone and that's a great feeling but no trance, as of now.

On Sundays, I try to spend more time in meditation. Today (27 Jul 2025) being Sunday, I had a good meditation session using this method which was for around two hours though with some spiritual related thinking and analysis, a few times during the session. I thought it may help some readers if I put down some key points about how I do this meditation method nowadays. A small change in method name is to use 'Dissolve in God' instead of 'Dissolve into God'. However, I am retaining 'Dissolve into I' as I felt that sounds right for that prompt.

Note that this post does not cover other aspects of my spiritual practice like prayer to God which is a regular and important part of my spiritual practice.

Dissolve into awareness-I / Dissolve in God Meditation: Prompts and Notes

Nowadays, the prompts I use while doing this method of meditation are:
  1. This (awareness-I) alone is the lasting truth.
  2. Go deep into (this) I. Dissolve into I.
  3. This is a part of God.
  4. This is a pathway to merge or dissolve in God.
  5. Dissolve in God. Dissolve.
Notes
  • The 'I' used in above prompts refers to 'awareness-I' . For more about 'awareness-I', please visit my post: Viewing Awareness-I as essence or part of God in my meditation and trying to dissolve or merge into God (experience oneness with God), June 2023.
  • I typically use some of the prompts in a session but not all the prompts. The prompts could get mixed (some part of one prompt and some part of another prompt) in a session.
  • The prompts are usually said mentally but at times, when I feel like doing so, I say them aloud a few times.
  • Prompt 1 (This alone ...)
    • Typically I use this prompt at the beginning of a session. While saying this (usually mentally) at the beginning of a session, I concentrate on and experience the unchanging awareness-I within me. This experience is usually immediate, though sometimes it takes some seconds to calm my mind, and very rarely, a few minutes, after which I clearly experience the awareness-I. After I have sort-of got into this awareness-I zone then I usually don't need to do it again for that session.
    • At times, I say: All else is passing show. (But I view the passing show as a manifestation of God and so follow Sathya, Dharma, Shanti and Prema with the passing show.)
  • Prompt 2 (Go deep ...)
    • A variation that I use is: Go deep in this I. Dissolve in this I.
  • Prompt 3 & 4 (... part of God, ... pathway to merge)
    • 'This' refers to awareness-I.
  • Prompt 5 (Dissolve in God)
    • Dissolve in God using this awareness-I as a pathway to merge or dissolve in God.
  • Once the meditation session is settled, when I am in chanting-meditation mode, I mainly use the 'Dissolve' prompt. 'Dissolve' is the last state of the sequence of prompts. Even if I stop at the Dissolve into I prompt and not go up to Dissolve in God, Dissolve is the last state of that truncated sequence too. At times, I try to focus on awareness-I and stay in a thoughtless state at which time I do not use even the 'Dissolve' prompt.
  • At times, I pray to God, either in form aspect which usually is Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba or in formless apect, to guide me in the meditation session. Perhaps I should start my meditation session regularly with prayer to God for guidance and for progress in meditation.

Quick Version: Dissolve into awareness-I Meditation

I think this quick version may be helpful when I want to either quickly get into the awareness-I meditation zone or have a quick awareness-I meditation session. I don't know how effective it will be as I have not specifically tried it out. I plan to try it out over coming days and weeks.

In the beginning of session, pray to God for guidance and progress/success in meditation.

Prompts

This alone is the lasting truth.

Go deep in this I. Dissolve in this I.

Dissolve. Dissolve. ...

Notes
  • All else is passing show prompt is optional and so is enclosed in square brackets.

Dissolve into awareness-I / Dissolve in God Meditation: Prompts as Chant/Song

To make these prompts more easy to recall, I have made them into the following chant/song. I don't think it will help in regular practice as the objective then is to simply use the prompt to guide the meditation and not focus on chanting the prompt. In fact, at that time I find that the chant can be a distraction and so prefer using the words as prose (not chant/song).

I don't know whether the chant/song below will be useful but as I spent some time on writing it, I am retaining it in this post. I should also mention that a day after I put up this post, when I was combining this chanting-meditation with walking, I tried out mentally changing/singing the chant/song and it seemed to help. Note that when I am walking, I need to be at least partially aware of the surroundings and so I focus only to some extent on the awareness-I (not deep focus).

This (I) alone is the lasting truth. *

All else is passing show.

Go deep in the I. Dissolve in the I.

Go deep in the I. Dissolve in the I.

Dissolve. Dissolve.

Dissolve into I. Dissolve.

This (I) is a part of God. *

This (I) is a part of God. *

This (I) is a pathway to: *

merge in God, dissolve in God,

merge in God, dissolve in God.

Dissolve. Dissolve.

Dissolve in God. Dissolve.

Notes

* (I) indicates that I is optional. I typically don't use it as the 'I' is understood when I use the 'This' prompt.
