Today Facebook showed me this 8 years old post of mine. While I rarely write on spirituality nowadays, I decided to share it along with some info. about the related book, as it may be of interest to any readers contemplating on self-publishing their first spiritual book.

The book in the shared post was my first effort at publishing or rather self-publishing a book. Initially I explored a local printer in Puttaparthi - the pics in the shared post are of the local printer printed book (cover page and book printing in general was not very good). Later I moved to self-publishing the book through Pothi.com and Notion Press (both provided much better printing of the book including cover page). Note that I published the ebook as free download and the printed book at not-for-profit minimal price.

The big takeaway for me from this effort was that even now years after I self-published it and moved on to other stuff, that book is around and seems to turn up in Google search. In anonymous Chrome browser window, I Google searched now for:
who am I Vedanta book

It listed my book on amazon.in and pothi.com in the top ten results. The title shown in the search results is slightly different: "Ultimate Existential Reality Answer; Vedanta ...". But on following the links, the long title of: "Who am I? I am I - Ultimate Existential Reality Answer; Vedanta; God and Science conversation" is correctly shown in the links.

Note that I have done zero marketing/advertising for this book over past at least 6 years. Still the book has not vanished and gone into oblivion!

My views as published in the book are easily accessible and appear in Internet search engine results. That's the great takeaway.

I should also mention that printed book sales (excluding my own purchases) are very, very low. Perhaps one or two book sales in a year or so. But the free ebook (shared on quite a few additional sites including WordPress blog) seems to be getting downloaded hundreds of times in a year (Wordpress blog ebook downloads for various versions of the book in 2025 were close to 150).

Readers who would like to self-publish their spiritual views/writings as a book to simply make their views accessible and available to others over the years, may find this experience of mine to be helpful. Free ebook download is a great way to make one's views easily accessible via the Internet.
