Very interesting anti-terrorism article by young Indian Islamic scholar Ghulam Rasool Dehlavi

Rescuing Islam, one fatwa at a time, http://www.asianage.com/columnists/rescuing-islam-one-fatwa-time-476, dated 16th Sept. 2015

A couple of small extracts:

Regrettably, it’s a time of great distress for moderate, peace-loving, mystically-inclined and Sufism-inspired Islamic scholars. The extremists easily command the headlines and, thus, obscure what the mainstream, moderate Muslim thinkers are saying and doing to save Islam from the clutches of the radicals’ gross misinterpretations.

The recently issued 1,100-page fatwa by Indian Islamic cleric Mufti Misbahi is a welcome effort to counter terrorism. The fatwa, drafted after four-month-long rigorous research, must be studied thoroughly. Refuting the misguiding claims of the ISIS, Mufti Misbahi surmised: “Our religion deems even those who mistreat animals as criminals. While Islam teaches us to abandon the mistreatment towards animals, there is an entity which beheads, defiles and maims people with impunity. How can that entity call itself Islamic?” Mufti Misbahi’s fatwa speaks strongly about how the ISIS is un-Islamic and unequivocally refutes its false claims of adhering to Islamic postulates and principles.

Here's the Facebook page of the article author Ghulam Rasool Dehlavi, https://www.facebook.com/ghulam.rasooldehlavi. Very nice to see a young Indian Islamic scholar (Delhi based) who actively promotes peaceful Islam and inter-faith dialogue. My prayers to Almighty God to shower His Grace on such initiatives promoting peace and love in an inter-faith (and inter-Islamic-sects) environment.

I sent the above contents over email to the author Ghulam Rasool Dehlavi. He responded quite promptly and very pleasantly. He was thankful for my having put up this blog post and shared his article. He wrote that I may want to read and share his other articles on spirituality & religion, which he forwarded to me (given below). I wrote back that in the near future, I plan to read those articles as their titles are of great interest to me.
