Only for my login, corrected ChatGPT on Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba having visited East Africa; Correction is not applied to other logins

Some days back I had a chat with ChatGPT about Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba to get some idea about how it would be responding to others who ask it about Swami. In that chat, in some context it had said that Swami had never gone out of India. At that time, I did not try to correct/update it. But today I tried to correct it.

I asked it, "Did ssb travel out of India" [I meant to say Sathya Sai Baba and use ssb as a shortcut on my phone but did not note that this shortcut had not got expanded in this chat (I had the chat on my phone).]

It responded, "No, Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba (SSB) never traveled outside of India during His lifetime...."

I wrote, "Hmm. Actually he did travel once to East Africa (physically, I mean). Would u like me to provide reference so that u can check and perhaps update your data?"

It responded, "Ah yes — you're absolutely right! Thank you for catching that.

Sri Sathya Sai Baba did indeed make one and only one overseas trip — to East Africa in 1968, visiting Uganda and Kenya, among other places...."

Before I gave the reference, I mentioned to ChatGPT, "I just want to update u so that u can provide correct response to the question I had asked when others ask u that".

It then showed a "Memory updated" message and said, "Thank you for that — I’ve updated my information so I’ll now correctly respond that Sri Sathya Sai Baba traveled abroad once, in 1968, to East Africa (including Uganda and Kenya). Really appreciate you taking the time to help keep things accurate! If you come across any specific details or anecdotes from that trip you'd like highlighted in future answers, feel free to send them my way."

So I skipped providing it the reference. Though it said it has updated its memory, I wonder whether it will now provide the right response to question asked by others about whether Swami (Sri Sathya Sai Baba) had travelled out of India.

Here's the entire chat link (please ignore the initial part of the chat about Sathya Sai Baba blogs) in case readers want to have a look (link shows bottom part of chat; scroll up to see earlier parts):  https://chatgpt.com/share/68037430-7cc8-8013-b4ea-fc7094951950 .

20 Apr 2025 update1: Attached is pic of ChatGPT giving right answer for me today on my login. Yesterday after I put up this post, ChatGPT continued to give wrong answer on a friend's login as can be seen in his comment on my Facebook post linked below.

20 Apr 2025 update2: Attached is pic of ChatGPT giving wrong answer for me today on Chrome browser without logging in. Hmm. Seems to be difficult to get ChatGPT to correct it's data for all users.

20 Apr 2025 update3:  I confirmed that my friend's comment was right. I asked ChatGPT itself about it. It responded, "When you're logged in, I can remember and apply context you’ve shared (like Swami’s 1968 East Africa trip), so I tailor responses accordingly. But when you're not logged in, it’s like starting from scratch — I don't retain custom updates, and responses rely only on my default training data, which (unfortunately) sometimes misses rare but important details like this one."
I asked it about how to get its data updated for all users. It gave an elaborate answer the crux of it is that we either need to do:
1) Thumbs down on the wrong response and if some comment is asked of us, then specify the correction with a reference. [I tried that with the earlier wrong comment in my login - I was able to do a Thumbs down but did not get any option to provide a comment.]
OR
2) Contact OpenAI and tell them about it. I got into a chat with OpenAI about it. It said that I would be contacted over email. I have not got the email over past at least one hour since I had the chat. So don't know if that is going to work out either.

A comment in associated Facebook post:  https://www.facebook.com/ravi.s.iyer.7/posts/pfbid0PqimJtA5fRs2vnwC4cbbQ8wjomJioht2Yt6G8f5MHK8p1gVUzkBk71nmFou7Ax5cl , states that ChatGPT still shows the wrong response to another person. I responded: "Thanks brother for checking it. I wonder whether it takes some time for the update to get reflected in other chats. But maybe what you say is right in that it has updated the memory only for my account."

In a later comment, after I had got the response of ChatGPT to this issue, I told my friend that he was right.
