Sathya Sai Baba: Evil spirits have power to masquerade themselves as Gods (Do not get cheated by these spirits. Beware!)
From http://scriptures.ru/jws_exc.htm, Extracts from Sri Sathya Sai Anandadayi by Karunamba Ramamurthy, Chapter 26
[Ravi: Please note that Swami refers to Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.]
In late 1940's, a few of us were sitting near the serpent altar. Conversations with Swami began.
...
DEVOTEE: Swami, what kind of acts should be done and what type of acts should be avoided for self-realisation? We are ignorant of this.
SWAMI: If you have strength in your body, money in your purse, help others. If you are weak and poor and cannot help others, do not harm others. If you do not have strength to help anyone, stay quiet. Not wishing bad to others is nothing but help. Do not find fault with others. Since you too have the tendency to commit the same mistakes, try to mend yourselves every time. The jivatma becomes one with the paramatma during the night for a period equal to the time which your mind has concentrated completely on God while meditating during the day time. If this oneness continues, the mind will become stabler for a longer duration in japa and dhyana.
Do not believe in mesmerism. Do not try to learn it or practice it. What you see then are evil spirits. God is not that easily attainable. God, who is a form of satvaguna, will never enter into these lowly things and talk. Man is seven steps below God. Evil spirits are six steps below God. God's aura falls on all these steps. Evil spirits have slightly greater strength than man. With this extra strength, they have the power to masquerade themselves as Gods. (Do not get cheated by these spirits. Beware!)

Thank you so very much for sharing this, sir. I have this book and have read it quite a few times but I guess this particular extract did not enter my heart so much as it has done now. :) Thank you once again. This is indeed very profound! And it is so relevant in today's scenario in the Sai world.
ReplyDeleteSister Aarthi: Even I had read this book earlier. But I did not particularly recall this section. In the context of another Facebook post somebody had shared another quote from this book which led me to dig deeper to confirm the reference, in turn leading me to the website having the book extract. Reading the webpage led me to the above VERY VITAL MESSAGE given by Bhagavan in the 1940s (well before I was born :-)) which is SO VERY APPROPRIATE for UNDERSTANDING and CONDEMNING Muddenahalli so called subtle body spiritual fraud in the HOLY NAME of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba, in 2014-15!!!
DeleteThey say about Hindu scripture like the Upanishads or the Geeta, that as we age and become wiser, the words in them become more meaningful & enlightening to us. I think it is the same with Sai Literature having words of Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba! Mind you, in the late 1940s Bhagavan would have been less than twenty-five years old! And yet, such wisdom and such clarity in the instructions/message, enabling us to decipher and repudiate what his own close servitor for decades, former Warden of the university he established - Sai university, Sri Narasimhamurthy, and his own Sai university alumnus gold-medallist MBA post-graduate, Sri Madhusudhan Naidu, have got trapped and deluded in after Bhagavan's Mahasamadhi, and are now deluding so many thousands of Bhagavan's devotees including Sai university former faculty and alumni!
